4th Annual Cola Rosé Shower

The Cola Rosé Shower held at Williams-Brice Stadium’s Traditions Club transforms Columbia’s most masculine symbol pink for a day to promote unity around the cause of women’s health and impacts the lives of women with limited resources. Feminine hygiene product donations are collected to benefit women who are served at Sistercare and The Period Project. A trophy will be presented to the group or organization at the event that donates the most product! To participate in the feminine product collection competition or host a drive, please let us know!

Everyone is asked to wear a shade of pink as we dance the day away to hits with Shejay T.O.(Gamecock Women’s Basketball DJ), sip on an open bar of rosé and frosé accompanied by delicious bites by Southern Way Catering, and witness another amazing PINK experience!

WHY:

Approximately 49% of women in the United States ages 18-64 reported having an ongoing medical condition that required monitoring, care, or medication, according to the 2022 KFF Women’s Health Survey. This rate increases with age, from 41% of women ages 18-49 to 65% of women ages 50-64.  According to the latest Period.org research, one in three (37%) women in the United States have experienced period poverty in their lifetime. In South Carolina, 1 in 5 women and girls between the age of 12 and 44 live below the Federal Poverty Line. One in four students struggle to purchase period products. Not having the feminine supplies they need means they are unable to go to school. They miss days of work. This absence perpetuates a cycle of poverty that is at the core a public health issue known as period poverty. This leads to embarrassment, depression, and unhealthy substitution of products.

IMPACT:
Over 48,000 feminine products collected at the 3rd Annual Cola Rosé Shower benefited Sistercare and the Period Project. We plan to surpass this number for the 4th Annual Cola Rosé Shower!

The Cola Rosé Shower is a celebration of women and feminine healthcare.  Whether battling cancer, fibroids, endometriosis, infertility, facing a hysterectomy, menopause, or other healthcare challenges, the Cola Rosé Shower provides a place to be seen, heard, and celebrated. All women face their own struggles, or has a mother, sister, aunt, cousin, or friend who can relate. This is truly a journey of unity, one we can do together!
